ECONOMY OVERVIEW

In 2006 production volumes of Bresaola della Valtellina PGI have reached more than 11.000 ton. The producers are 16 and are located in the typical zone of production: the County of Sondrio.

Bresaola's consumptions are constantly growing.

In recent years, supported by new way of living styles and due to its great healthy properties, bresaola has become a stable component of Italian food purchasing choices.

70% of Bresaola's consumers live in northern Italy, but you can found the product in almost every restaurant all over the County.

Usually Bresaola is sold in row pieces , while in the retail distribution you can buy it in slices.

Export, which accounts about 5% of total production, is significantly growing in both European and extra-European countries.

Switzerland, France, Germany and England are the most important export countries, although in most recent period other countries have achieved a higher weight in the commercial destinations mix: Russia, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Cyprus and Hong Kong.

Bresaola della Valtellina is sold also in Islamic countries, where it is a very much appreciated product being the only one originated from beef meat.

An Italian product that grows all over the word.
